Gemma lives up to her name, she is a gem.  We love her laid back attitude.  Her favorite past time is to bask in the sun or stretch out on the rug in the comfort of her quiet foster home.  She does fine with other dogs who are of similar size and energy, but she is not a fan of high energy, super playful dogs and cats are not a good idea.  Her favorite thing is to be near her humans.  She is shy at first and a little leery of touch, but will come to you when she has relaxed and feels comfortable.  We have found that she warms up in a couple days.  She would appreciate it if you pet her on her back or belly as opposed to her head, thank you very much!  She will go in to the crate with some yummy enticement.

We recommend hand feeding in order to build trust or feeding her in her crate.  We also recommend a calm, quiet home.

She is a dream to walk on leash and she LOVES to go for walks or car rides; although she will help you navigate.  She loves tennis balls and will fetch as much as one would expect a Malmaute to participate, but it's fun entertainment for a bit.
