She has completed four of the seven summits, and has plans for more in the upcoming year. Partnering with non-profits like Taysia Blue Rescue, Lara helps raise funds through her excursions as well. A pet lover herself, she goes out of her way to help others in need, and push herself to the limit in her adventures.  Lara has already summited four of the seven peaks.

As a side note: Lara's parents adopted Jitterbug from Taysia Blue Rescue in 2023

In December 2023, Lara will set out for Antarctica to Climb Mt. Vinson and Ski to the South Pole, where she will place a Taysia Blue Rescue flag!

She has graciously chosen us as the benefactor for her "Climbing for a Cause" fundraiser benefiting Taysia Blue Rescue.

The Explorers Grand Slam or Adventurers Grand Slam is an adventurers challenge to reach the North Pole, the South Pole and all of the Seven Summits. The North Pole is defined as the point in the Northern Hemisphere where the Earth’s axis of rotation meets its surface. The South Pole, situated in Antarctica, is the southernmost point on the surface of the Earth and lies on the opposite side of the Earth from the North Pole. The Seven Summits are defined as the highest mountain peaks of each of the seven continents.

A letter from Lara:

Hello!

LD all dogs ProAs part of my quest to complete the Explorer’s Grand Slam (https://explorersgrandslam.com) I will climb the Seven Summits (the highest peak on each continent) in addition to skiing to the South and North Poles. I have already reached the summit of four of the seven and made two attempts at a fifth – Denali, where weather conditions didn’t allow for a summit and an attempt on Mt Everest, where a health situation halted my endeavor. My current focus is the infrequently visited South Pole (9,300 ft) and Mt Vinson Mastiff (16,050 ft). When I committed to do this mini expedition to Antarctica, I knew it would involve almost a year of preparation. I've spent a significant amount of time ensuring my physical training is on track, my hard skills are refreshed and dialed in, my gear fits and is appropriate, and as with past climbs I’m committed to “Climbing for a Cause”. I have linked this adventure with Taysia Blue Rescue (https://www.taysiablue.com).

Taysia Blue Rescue (TBR) is an amazing organization that works very had to save the lives of Northern Breeds, mainly Alaskan Malamutes and Siberian Huskies. TBR focuses on taking these breeds out of shelters or off the streets in seven different areas: Arkansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Tennessee, Kansas, Missouri and Colorado (being the largest market for TBR rescues). The founders of Taysia Blue Rescue say that by taking a dog out of a shelter, this organization is saving two lives; the life of the dog going to a TBR foster home and the dog that now can enter the shelter and also find a forever home. To date TBR has saved the lives of 2334 dogs, 157 thus far in 2023 with 30 currently waiting for adoption.

As many of you know, a large part of my family is comprised of rescued dogs; (currently) four Malamutes and a Husky/Malamute mix (see attached picture). Unfortunately, like several breeds, Malamutes and Husky’s often find themselves in shelters because though they are extremely cute as puppies, they grow into dogs that many did not prepare themselves for or, perhaps, don’t have the appropriate lifestyle for a working dog. Not only does Taysia Blue Rescue work towards placing dogs with appropriate families, they also supply education about these breeds and on-going support for fosters and adopters. TBR relies on volunteers to operate and I’ve have seen firsthand how extremely committed they are with the dogs in their care, as well as foster and adopting families.

If you have a love for dogs especially rescued dogs (or any animal), outdoor adventure or if you just want to support my cause, please consider donating to Taysia Blue Rescue on my behalf. One hundred percent of all donations go to the rescue. As a thank you for your tax-deductible donation, you’ll receive an official receipt, a blog link to follow my teams during the ski and climb as well as updates from me (via TBR). You will also receive a post trip summary (including pictures) written by only me about my observations, thoughts, and experiences throughout this joint expedition. When donating, please denote Lara or Antarctica. DONATE AT TAYSIA BLUE RESCUE NOW

On behalf of Taysia Blue Rescue, all the dogs waiting for homes and myself, we greatly appreciate your support!

With gratitude,

Lara Daniel
