We are committed to helping create a world where there are no more homeless pets. Everyday dozens of Siberian huskies are killed in shelters across the country. In order achieve our mission, we commit ourselves to being focused on helping healthy and treatable Siberian huskies and husky mixes who are at risk of being killed in a shelter and have no other options.
We are so sad to hear from families who feel like their only option is to give up the dogs they love. It is our goal to work with these families and offer a little help to work through the issues and provide alternatives to surrendering their dog to a shelter.
If a family still feels that they cannot keep their husky and doesn't want to surrender the dog to a shelter, we will provide adoption assistance based on our policy below.
Surrendering owners will be asked to complete ALL of the following steps:
1. The husky will 'foster' in the surrendering owner's home until he / she is adopted. The requesting family should complete the re-homing application. Please provide truthful information, including the good and not so good, it will help us write an accurate description of the dog.
2. The husky must pass the same temperament test that a shelter dog must pass before being considered adoptable. This includes overall physical condition, appropriate behavior and house skills.
3. Huskies accepted by TAYSIA BLUE should be recognizable as a Siberian husky.
4. Prepare the husky to be re-homed by updating needed vaccinations. You will need provide copies of your dog's vet records indicating dates all necessary vaccines have been administrated. This includes RABIES, BORDETELLA, and DISTEMPER / PARVO.
5. The surrendering family must provide proof of spay / neuter.
6. The surrendering family must provide recent test results for heartworm and a recent negative fecal test and proof of all other needed medical treatment completed.
7. The husky should be free of fleas and ticks and should be living as an indoor house pet.
8. Once we've received the above veterinary requirements and have temperament tested the husky, we ask for a $75 re-homing donation. The requested donation helps to cover our time and effort to help re-home a husky and goes to help the dogs and maintain the rescue. We are all volunteers and receive no monetary compensation for our efforts. This donation can be securely paid online via Pay Pal with your credit or debit card. Please use the PayPal general donation option on our website. If you use this method please indicate "owner referral donation for _______" in the memo of the online donation form.
9. Once we have the donation, we will post and market the husky on our website, Petfinder.com and other adoption affiliate websites. We will also screen applicants for adoption. We will ask for photos and a write up to help market the husky to potential adopters.
10. Once a suitable home is found, the surrendering owner will sign a transfer of ownership and TAYSIA BLUE will facilitate the adoption.
Taysia Blue Siberian Husky Rescue (TAYSIABLUE) is a nonprofit 501c3 volunteer organization, formed to help Siberian Huskies and Siberian Husky Mixes that have been abused, neglected, abandoned, or surrendered by their owners. Our goals are to place these dogs in loving homes and to educate people about the characteristics of this wonderful, yet often misunderstood, breed. To accomplish these goals and our overall mission, our network of volunteers throughout NE, MO, KS and IA are involved in raising funds, transporting and fostering dogs, developing and maintaining our web site, and representing the group at events.
